| On Sunday 12 th October 2008 Tim Pickering paid a visit to the lower derwent, as he often does being a keen Barbel fisherman. He goes on to explain: After an hour into my session I thought I would try a new bait which I have had my eye on but never purchased before, almost immediately I hook into a 11lb 13oz barbel what a good start I could go home now and be happy. |

| But not me, I'm always looking to beat my personal best, always on the look out for monsters. So changing my hook from a size 10 to a 6 and my new bait to my number 1 bait but larger than usual halibut pellet Hoping to sit back for a bit longer and take it all in, after half an hour bang goes the rod, I was very excited, my heart is racing, the fish is putting up a very good fight and thinking this could be a carp it turned out to be a 13lb 12oz barbel. Brilliant, this was my last fish of the day but I will sleep well tonight knowing I will be back because I know there are bigger than my PB of 15lb out there. | |||
