Bryan Stephenson writes – I usually fish the first two fields below the pipe bridge. You may recognise the stretch where the pictures were taken. I only get picture when my wife tags along. |

The Barbel above was caught on September 10th and weighed 9lbs. . This was one of seven barbel and three chub taken in a four hour hour evening session. My diary tells me that the two largest barbel were taken on ‘Trigga' flavoured paste, while the rest fell to meat. |

A few days later on September 15th I caught three barbel caught along with four chub. The barbel were 10 lbs., 9 lbs., and 7 lbs. (The largest of which is shown above) Two were taken on paste and one on a boilie, the only fish I have ever caught on that bait. I have also fished for carp on the Lower Derwent having caught a decent one by accident when fishing for barbel. I fish for carp in the slackish swims and to date I have had three carp on two occasions. The best carp weighed 21 lbs. I have no photograph as my wife did not accompany me on this occasion.
