Rules for Use of Boats at Willington
Trout Angling
- Members must book themselves and any guest/child in at the normal Checking Station.
- Boats are available to members. Guests may use the boats when accompanied by the member who must fish from the same boat. Children 12 years and above may use the boat when accompanied by the member responsible who must fish from the same boat. Boats are only to be used for ANGLING.
- Maximum of two anglers per boat. It would be appreciated if members even if not known to each other, would share a boat so as to obtain maximum use especially at busy times.
- All ANGLERS must provide and wear a buoyancy aid/life jacket conforming to current safety legislation for their own safety at all times whilst on the pontoon/landing stage and when in the boat.
NO BUOYANCY AID/LIFE JACKET NO BOAT
- The BOAT checking in station is located to the right of the portacabin and members must book in on the form and include name, membership number, guest/child name, session being fished the number of boat (T1 or T2) and note any defects or damage to the boat or equipment. If serious damage is noted please contact the person named at the end of these rules.
- Booking for the boats shall be on a first come first served basis, no boats can be reserved. On completing the session booked the member must return to the pontoon/landing stage and book out. If at the allotted time of the following session no member has arrived to use the boat, the member who has just completed may re-book the boat for the next session. No booking of continuous sessions will be allowed without returning to the checking-in station.
- Boats will normally be available from APRIL 1st until OCTOBER 31st only.
- During the month of April the day shall be split into 2 sessions
- Session 1 - 0700 hours - 1245 hours
- Session 2 - 1300 hours - 1845 hours
During the months of May until September the day shall be split into 3 sessions.
- Session 1 - 0600 hours - 1100 hours
- Session 2 - 1115 hours - 1615 hours
- Session 3 - 1630 hours - 2100 hours
During the month of October the day shall be split into 2 sessions
- Session 1 - 0800 hours - 1215 hours
- Session 2 - 1230 hours - 1645 hours
- Oars will be stored in the steel locker attached to the Portacabin (under the checking in station) and accessed by the membership checking in station key, these must be returned after fishing to the same location by the last person using them.
- Boats will be attached by chain and lock to the pontoon/landing stage and must be returned to the same location and chained and locked for security purposes. The keys are hung up in the boat checking in station.
- Mud weights are available and will normally be in the boat. Additional weights are available under the portacabin. Please be careful when lifting the mud weights into the boat as this is where any damage is likely to occur, please do not drop the mud weights only place them in the bottom of the boat. Anchors must not be used.
- Boat anglers must not approach near to any bank angler so as to interfere with his or her angling.
- No motors either petrol/diesel or electric are allowed, propulsion is by the supplied oars only. No trailing of flies or lures whilst boat is being rowed (trolling).
- Glynn Riley. Telephone 07737 277855 is the person to contact for reporting any loss or damage to equipment including boats. Glynn is available between the hours of 08.30am-08.30pm (0830hrs-2030hrs)
- A member must not take a boat out on the water in unfavourable weather conditions (e.g. high winds, heavy rain or thunder storms). The decision to take out the boat will rest with the angler/anglers using the boat. If in any doubt do not use the boat.
- No fishing is allowed from the pontoon/landing stage.
The provision will only work if members treat the facility with the usual standard of sportsmanship and adherence to rules. Please use the boats fairly and above all safely.
