| The ideal fly at Sutton in the summer
is a dry fly on a floating line. A size 12 or 14 Shipman’s Buzzer
fished slowly across the wind would be ideal. With the wind at your back just cast out a greased up line and hold it still. Very often fish will boil at the fly and sink it before they take it. Fish at Sutton seldom chase a fly particularly if it is stripped back. This is very much a top of the water dry fly and nymph water. Favourite colours are fiery brown and black. A long leader is essential in the clear water which has a maximum depth of only one metre. |
