Sightings of Cormorants, Goosanders and Mergansers
Please note that the following website is available to all members to record sightings of fish eating birds. Please enter the website as a “favourite” in your web browser and help to log all sightings. When you have used it once subsequent entries are very quick to record.
The Angling Trust has launched a new web site for you and your fishing friends to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK:
http://www.cormorantwatch.org
The new site is easy to use - it takes less than a minute to record your sighting.
Don't forget to bookmark www.cormorantwatch.org, keep your eyes peeled and come back every time you want to report a sighting.
The Angling Trust succeeded in persuading the Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon to carry out a review of the cormorant licensing procedure and he has stated that he is prepared to take "bold decisions". As part of this review, the Trust needs data on the abundance of cormorants to convince the government to take decisive action. So now it's your turn - go to www.cormorantwatch.org and make a difference.

Carsington
No changes to the rules, opens March 19th, 2011
Carsington News
Carsington Sports & Leisure Ltd is due to kick off its second fly fishing season on Saturday 19th March. After such a successful first season we can't wait to get our second season underway. We're busy prepping the boats, the lodge and getting a full complement of 20 boats, all with outboard engines ready for opening day.
You will find familiar faces on the staff team waiting to help you with your enquiries and that all important fishing knowledge. Fish have already been stocked at several points around the water giving you all a chance to catch! We are pleased to have another trout farm supplying us with fish this year in addition to the two excellent suppliers used throughout 2010.
Our permit prices have increased a little due to higher vat and fish costs however the boat prices have stayed the same as last season.
Our stocking levels are due to remain the same as last season with a little more emphasis on pre season stocking and more regular weekly deliveries during the later part of the season. As always there will be a good mix of both brown and rainbow trout stocked into the water, with the current high water levels we can spread our stocking around the water to help the fish spread out.
Philip White will be joining the team again this year to run beginner and improver casting sessions plus the introduction of a day course giving a little more background information into the sport and its equipment.

The Club has agreed to allow the use of the fishing rights to Mr. Tony Lomas, the Landowner and farmer at Holme Nook Farm, who will be selling day tickets to the general angling public.
In return Mr. Lomas has agreed to give 6 Club members free access to the water on any one day and will ensure that 6 fishing places are available. In the short term he will extend that permission to any member's guests or accompanying children or grandchildren.
Members should follow the rules in the current Club Handbook.
Members must also use the booking in form at the checking station and hang their disc on a vacant hook, once a checking station is in place.
Please cooperate fully with Mr. Lomas, if you have any questions or concerns please write to the General Secretary . |
