Salmon and Sea Trout on Club Waters

There have been numerous sighting of both salmon and sea trout on Club waters especially on the Lower Derwent-two positive identifications have been made by anglers on the Lower Derwent actually catching specimens and at Willington. If you are lucky enough to catch one please handle it very carefully- remember unless you have a migratory licence it is illegal to take such a fish.
Please take a good quality photograph if possible and gently remove two or three scales from behind the gills and send them as soon as possible to Ron Trevis . If you do take the fish please let Ron know so that the Trent Rivers Trust can take any details that may be of use to them. Please look at the fish very carefully to ascertain if it is a sea trout or salmon-the main features to look for are the position of the eye in relation to the mouth and if it has a wrist near the tail-for full details please visit www.ogmoreriver.com and click on Fish Identification where there are some good diagrams to follow.

There is a lot of talk about rents going up if salmon are present in our rivers. There are no grounds for this talk and it must also be remembered that DCAC own the Lower Derwent , Willington and River Idle fisheries so our rent cannot rise.
