Fishing the Mayfly at Wolfscote Dale

There are many wild fish in the river on our two mile stretch and they are rising freely to mayfly and olives. A good dry fly selection would be mayfly, adams and the ubiquitous double badger.
The river is in suberb condition and the mayfly hatch is better than it has been for many years. This water is well worth fishing. If you go in the evening there are few walkers about except at weekends and it is relatively quiet during the day now the school term has restarted.

Mike's imitation
The second successful mayfly
All fish were returned. There are a lot of fish rising in long meadow where our fishing begins but these are wily fish and difficult to catch. The fish in the more streamy water are easier.
Most recent anglers on the water have caught fish. David Holmes rose several fish and caught one of them along with a mature tree !
Mike Habbershaw caught several trees and six wild trout ranging from four inches to twelve inches.

'The real thing'
The pictures show the genuine article mayfly and two passable but effective imitations.
